A Rocky Point House With Black Mold, Vacant Five Years
Charlie and Teresa inherited a house in Rocky Point that sat vacant for four or five years. It filled with black mold, badly enough that it was uninhabitable and someone in the family was getting sick from it.
They were in the middle of a loan modification when they had to vacate over the mold. They did not have the money to remediate it, and without remediation there was no way to put it on the market. So the house just sat, getting worse every year.
They did not trust us at first. Teresa says plainly that we kept calling and she kept ignoring the calls until curiosity got the better of her and she finally picked up. That is an honest account and we would rather have it on the record than a polished one.
We bought it in the condition it was in, mold and all, and they walked away with money they say they would not otherwise have had. Asked if she would recommend us, Teresa said she definitely would, and added that she wished she had started the process sooner.
